Learning & Teaching Strategies
A blended approach to learning is adopted, in keeping with the University of Bolton's TIRI (Teaching Intense, Research Informed) and Campus Plus teaching strategies. Traditional lectures provide core knowledge and an opportunity for students to discuss complex issues with tutors; these lectures will delivered in-class. The web-based learning portal, called Moodle, acts as repository for core content but also provides a road map for self-directed learning. Between classes, students have group homework to develop problem solving care planning skills. Class time will be afforded for students to share their real life experiences and share their practice with their peers. Simulation sessions allow students to develop their bedside skills in assessing patients with kidney disease. Teaching is provided by practicing kidney experts or those with an advanced understanding of the knowledge pertinent to kidney disease. During the module students are expected to reflect on how their learning in the module is impacting on their practice and identify new learning needs. Students have allotted individual time with a tutor to discuss their summative written assignment. This programme adopts a blended style of learning and teaching including online delivery and engagement where appropriate.
