Learning & Teaching Strategies
During this module you will receive key note lectures that will provide an introduction to the topics covered. Each lecture will be pertinent to the topic being developed and teaching will be through wider groups to enhance your understanding and decision making when supporting a person at the end of life and in the management of loss and bereavement. This approach will ensure that you encounter a wide range of case histories and complex issues. You will receive individual tutorials aimed at meeting your individual learning needs, plus a mixture of methods including individual and group exercises and discussion, self-directed study. The tutorials are to help you establish a learning framework that will enable you to meet the learning outcomes of the module. As well as lectures and tutorials, a range of web based resources will be made available to you via Moodle, the University's virtual learning environment, to aid you in achieving the knowledge requirement identified. E-learning is also provided via Moodle to enable you to undertake further study in a place and at a time that is convenient for you. This programme adopts a blended style of learning and teaching including online delivery and engagement where appropriate.

Assessment Strategy
You will submit the introduction to your assignment along with evidence of your work towards learning outcome one for formative assessment. Formative assessment is systematic and planned assessment that you are expected to undertake and to receive feedback on. Formative assessment is not considered at an assessment board and is not subject to internal or external moderation.
Summative assessment is designed to test your achievement of intended learning outcomes of the module. This will be in the form of a written assignment designed to test your understanding of bereavement and loss. Summative assessment is considered at an assessment board and is subject to both internal and external moderation.

Role of External Examiners
External examiners are appointed for all programmes of study. They oversee
the assessment process and their duties include: approving assessment tasks,
reviewing assessment marks, attending assessment boards and reporting to the
University on the assessment process.
